Screw tool in the spark plug hole, rock the flywheel to find T.D.C (top dead center), when the plunger doesn't rise or fall.
Screw the dial up to touch the ring on the plunger, re-check the ring is touching the dial at exactly T.D.C.
Screw down the dial by the amount of advance (B.T.D.C) you need using graduations, rotate the flywheel backwards until the ring touches the dial, at this point your points should just be opening, or make your timing mark on the flywheel.
Use timing marks to set electronic ignition with a strobe gun.
